A new client approached me wanting a kitchen island built with a slight difference, she wanted to make the kitchen island the new dinning table and the social centre for the house. To obtain space for the seating of 7 bar stools we had three overhangs and for additional storage it would have three doors and shelves on one side and barn doors and drawers on the other.
The top is Tasmanian Black wood with a waxed finish, we chose wax because it will be a food area and it is easy to maintain, the paint is Dulux Aquanamel chosen for its durability and the carcass is built from sustainable 18mm pine ply.
