Recently I was commissioned to build a holding pen for a well known dog groomer in NZ, this pen is used to hold the puppies after grooming and waiting for their owners to pick them up, a requirement of the build was on occasions they require a two space to become one for the larger dogs.
Instead of pulling the partition out I engineered a system where the partition could be slid to end and locked away, therefore eliminating having to store it after it was taken out. This was the first time I have used the double barn doors, and overall the client and her customers are happy.
Something I was very conscious of is to ensure that once in the pen the puppies felt safe, unable to break free and that there was no sharp edges that could hurt them, in the pictures you will. See anything inside the pens were rounded off for their protection.
The build is a mix of pine, pine ply, Acacia top, the bars are aluminum, I used low VOC wash and ware paint.
