New look kitchen counter

A long standing client of mine asked us to refurbish their wooden kitchen counter top, it had a polyurethane coating that gave it the usual yellow/orange look. My client had recently renovated their kitchen but the top dated the new look.

Our approach was to strip it back and see what was actually underneath the coatings, and it was a wonderful surprise the wood was beautiful and its natural sanded look blended well with the floor boards and kitchen design. The challenge was to lock in that natural look while giving it a protective finish to handle a busy family kitchen counter. After testing different samples we decided on using Whittles light raw stain to lock in the natural sanded beauty of the wood and then Whittles hard wax oil for protection.

The result highlighted the natural beauty of the wood and provided a strong protective barrier that tied the kitchen renovations together.

The pictures show the before, sanded and finished view, if you are interested in refurbishing your counter top and do not want a yellow polyurethane look please get in touch.
